Comfort, security, energy saving - there are many reasons to automate the control of lighting and shading and integrate it into the smart home. Until now, however, this often required new switches or remote controls. In contrast, the new Homematic IP dimming actuator, the new Homematic IP blind actuator and the Homematic IP switch module for brand switches launched last year make it easy to integrate existing switch series into the connected home.

The compact design of the devices enables uncomplicated installation in a standard flush-mounted box. The appearance of the switch does not change when the actuators are installed: With the corresponding adapter, existing frames and rockers, e.g. from Legrand, Schneider Electric or Feller, are simply placed on top and continue to be used. The original design and functionality of the switch remain fully intact.

The difference: The switch is now part of the Homematic IP smart home, with all the associated conveniences. Dimmable lights as well as electric blinds, Venetian blinds, shutters and awnings can now be controlled fully automatically via time profiles or in combination with other devices such as motion detectors or weather sensors. This is not only convenient, but also saves energy and can even deter burglars or protect the home from overheating in summer. Anyone using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant can conveniently switch or dim lights and or raise and lower shading elements "on demand". And with the Homematic IP app on the smartphone, control is also possible at any time from the sofa or even on the go.

The Homematic IP blind actuator for brand switches is available from now on and the Homematic IP dimming actuator from January 2024.
